Ex- Doctor Charged with Assault Charges Involving 38 Patients
Prosecutors have announced that a former physician stands accused of performing assaults against 38 individuals who were under his care.
The Serious Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous sexual offences – comprising acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
One senior prosecutor commented, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Police Inquiry
These allegations come after what police described as a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
List of Offences
Prosecutors said the 45 charges include:
- 15 counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
