The Streaming Platform to Bring a Far Cry TV Show from the Minds of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The most recent action-packed game that gamers experienced was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and was released on October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is famous for delighting in action and insanity with the same excitement, all while weaving engaging, ideologically themed narratives. Little surprise that FX's recent announcement for a Far Cry anthology series attracted two visionaries whose work have represented all of those qualities.
About the Series
Based on Ubisoft's successful video game franchise, the short-run anthology series will be available on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The show will also parallel the video games' style by having a fresh setting and cast of characters in each season.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as showrunners on the series via their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had magnificent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are working together for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is original, compelling, and extremely entertaining. We also want to appreciate our associates at Ubisoft for trusting us with this beloved property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also appear in the show, but at the time of writing, we are unsure of what character that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just approved for more episodes, with FX and Disney signing a new long-term contract with the showrunner.
“Being able to collaborate with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally generous, entrusting us with one of the most famous video-game universes ever created. And along the way, my FX team continues to lift me up with their steady confidence and assistance.”
“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology-style program. Each game is a variation of a idea, the same way every series of Fargo is a version on a premise,” noted Hawley. “To create a large-scale action show that can shift from one instalment to the next, while always delving into the essence of humanity through this complex and chaotic viewpoint, is a long-held aspiration. I’m excited to partner with Rob and introduce our mutual irreverent, visionary sensibility to the screen.”
A schedule for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
