Vinted Members Express Anger Over Sizing Modifications
Shoppers are voicing their frustration following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Digital Channels Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with other platforms.
They have suggested members to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Updates
Previously, the sizing featured one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
User Accounts
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.
Necessary Adjustments
A different user, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million users, with 18 million British users.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
